About us
Between the thick ancient Alutaguse forests and on the edge of the Muraka bog lies Rabatalu, which was originally called Tagatalu. The known history of settlement on this site goes at least two centuries back.
The old threshing room of Tagatalu was built in 1904, the sauna and granary in 1934–1935 and the residential building in 1938.
In August 2014, Tagatalu was taken over by the new owner, Ronaldo Sildnik.
The poor state of the buildings proved to be the biggest concern when the farm was purchased. In the auxiliary buildings of Tagatalu, all logs were replaced, in some cases even up to the bottom 4 rows. The wood material for the sauna and auxiliary building was kindly provided by the former landlady from her own forest.
The old Estonian smoke sauna, which had sunk half a meter into the ground, was also in a very bad condition, but the situation is much better today!
With the completion of the sauna house in 2018, the idea was born to develop the place into a tourist farm. In January 2020, we decided to change the name of Tagatalu to stunning Rabatalu (meaning in English: Bog Farm)!
You dream of a place where you feel cut off from civilization, where the electricity, the phone lines, at some point the road, simply stop, and silence, peace and birdsong begin, where time stands still? If so, you need to come and take a little vacation with us at Rabatalu.
There are no neighbours nor cars passing by. You may even see some wild animals instead.
