Adventure hikes

Rabatalu, as the name suggests, is situated near a bog. The bog is called Muraka. Muraka Nature Reserve is one of the largest natural landscape complexes in Estonia and is part of the Alutaguse National Park. The history of the nature reserve dates back to 1938, when a part of the Muraka bog (Ratva bog's reservation) was placed under protection because golden eagles nested there.

The nature reserve has paid special attention to the preservation of the Muraka-Ratva bog and its  biodiversity, including the habitats of the latter, as well as to the protection of the natural forests there.  Category I protected species, such as flying squirrels, black storks, etc., all live on that territory. The bird fauna there is truly impressive.

We are proud to say that the surrounding bog is our charm, as adventuring in the woods and the bog not far from our farm has been very well received by both children and adults.

The classic bog hike of Rabatalu includes the following:

- The maximum hike is 10 km, but the length of the hike is selected according to the group's wishes.

- The tour is guided by the farm owner, Ronaldo

- Hike to pristine bog islands

- Exciting stories and forest adventures from the farm owner to accompany the hike

- Children get to know bog plants as well as animal and bird species that live in the bog.

Rabatalu is a very popular place for school classes, kindergartens and families with children. You wouldn't go into the actual bog with little children, but you would go on an adventure around Rabatalu on the Alutaguse forest paths.
